I teach private lessons to White City students ages 5–18 with calm, patient instruction. We work on posture, bow movement, left-hand position, playing in tune, rhythm and music reading in age-appropriate steps, with clear guidance for practice at home. Beginners are welcome.

  • Live one-on-one coaching with demonstrations and feedback as your child plays

  • Reading & musicianship (sight-reading, rhythm, ear training, basic theory)

  • Performance & audition prep when your student is ready
  • Progress check-ins to celebrate wins and set next steps

Lesson Length

Every lesson is one hour, in person or online. After the free trial lesson, I’ll suggest goals and a practice plan based on your child’s focus and experience.

Learning One-on-One

  • Patient teaching that starts at your child’s level
  • Classical technique, taught simply: holding the cello, bow control, playing in tune and producing a clear tone
  • Weekly goals with realistic practice time
  • Real musicianship for school orchestra, chamber groups, and auditions
  • Consistent communication so parents always know what’s next

How It Works

  1. Say hello. Tell me your child’s age, experience, goals and schedule.
  2. Free trial lesson. We check fit, size the instrument and outline a plan.
  3. First 4–6 weeks. Build core habits with short, focused assignments.
  4. Ongoing lessons. Technique, reading and musicality at your child’s pace.
  5. Celebrate growth. Low-pressure performances as confidence grows.

Practice at Home (Parent Guide)

Short, regular practice works better than long catch-up sessions. You’ll get a one-page plan with small goals, such as working on tone, rhythm or a few measures of music, along with a practice tracker and short notes after lessons.

Who It’s Great For

  • Beginners who need a patient, step-by-step start
  • Orchestra players who want stronger reading and rhythm
  • Audition prep for seating, festivals, or youth ensembles
  • Advancing students polishing tone, vibrato, and shifting

FAQs (White City)

Do you accept absolute beginners?

Yes. Many of my students start with no experience, and we build good habits from the first lesson.

Do we need a cello before the trial?

No. I’ll check your child’s size and recommend rental options.

Can a parent sit in?

Yes, and it helps younger students.

What if my child struggles to focus?

I use short demonstrations, call-and-response and small goals to keep lessons moving.
