Cohorts & Placement

I group students by age and experience to provide an appropriate level of challenge.

  • Pre‑Reader (Ages 5–7): First steps, posture/bow games, short rhythms
  • Foundations (Ages 8–12): Reading fluency, steady tone, basic shifting prep
  • Ensemble Growth (Ages 10–14): Two‑part textures, dynamics, rhythm independence
  • Advancing (Ages 13–18): Vibrato/shifting work, phrasing, chamber‑style skills

A short placement chat or trial lesson helps me recommend a suitable group.

Learning in a Group

  • Playing with classmates helps students stay motivated to practice
  • Clear, classical fundamentals: setup, bow path, left‑hand shape, intonation, tone
  • Real ensemble training: blend, balance, timing, following cues
  • Structure that sticks: weekly goals and simple practice minutes
  • Confidence on stage: low‑pressure performance opportunities
